    Shoe Trends for Autumn/Winter 2015-2016

Autumn is officially in full swing so it’s about time that you got your autumn/winter wardrobe in order! Shoes are taking centre stage for autumn/winter 2015-2016 with styles such as the Chelsea boot and the loafer making a comeback and 70s inspired trends like block heels and velvet shoes also in the mix. The colours you can expect to see this season include different shades of brown, orange, mustard, marsala (the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2015), khaki green, classic red, metallic silver and not forgetting, timeless black. Of course, most of these colours fall into the category of traditional warm autumn colours but rest assured that there will be a whole host of new colours to experiment with this autumn/winter too.

According to the fashion experts, a variety of creams and pastels are in trend for autumn/winter 2015-2016 and they will help to soften out the traditional autumn/winter look. Baby blues, dusty pinks and lilacs all featured in the autumn collections of Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Christian Dior, Missoni, Dries Van Noten and others.

When planning out your autumn/winter wardrobe, perhaps one of the most important places to start is with your footwear. Autumn/winter calls for more coverage and protection when it comes to footwear so say goodbye to flip-flops and skinny heels and hello to Chelsea boots and chunky block heels.

    The Loafer

The loafer is also a must-have for autumn/winter 2015-2016. Loafers are completely versatile, you can match them with a long sleeved dress, a pair of oversize pants or you can opt for a more classic look and wear them with socks and a midi pleated skirt. Of course, the great thing about loafers is that they are almost always very comfortable; they offer a relatively flat shoe with a good thick sole. With no laces or buckles, they are completely maintenance free as well.

    The Block Heel

In case you haven’t heard 70s retro is back this season and there’s no better way to inject some 70s glam into your wardrobe than with your choice of shoes. Square chunky heels are everywhere this season and they will be hard to avoid. Whether you choose to go all out retro and select a squared heel and squared toe combo shoe or you opt for something a little simpler, perhaps a squared heel alone, it is definitely a trend to incorporate into your autumn/winter wardrobe.

    The Chelsea Boot

The much-loved Chelsea boot makes an appearance again for autumn/winter 2015-2016. It has been around for a number of seasons now and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere soon. The Chelsea boot is incredibly versatile, suitable for both men and women, it looks great with skinny jeans, suit trousers as well as mid-length skirts and dresses. Designer advocates of the Chelsea boot include Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent and many more.

    Sketchers Go Walk 3Sports Luxe

The sports luxe trend has been around for a few seasons and it doesn’t look to be going anywhere soon. In fact, for autumn/winter 2015 expect to see the trend getting even bigger. The sports luxe trend is all about simplicity, so maintaining classic colour pairings like black and white is key.

    Clarks Griffin MabelVelvet

Velvet is most definitely in trend when it comes to footwear this season. In particular, colours like royal blue, burgundy and marsala will look great in velvet. Velvet featured in the autumn/winter fashion shows of Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Puce and Stella McCartney. If you can’t manage to find velvet, of course the next best thing is suede. It may be a bit of a trend cheat, but you’ll get away with it.
