Technology in Meindl Hiking Boots & Shoes
Meindl has been crafting boots and shoes for over 300 years and over the years they have become innovators in shoe technology. Below is a list of just some of the technology you can expect to find in some of the Meindl ranges.
GORE TEX Surround
GORE-TEX boots and shoes are appropriate for a variety of activities, including a simple walk or a more difficult mountain hike (depending on the type of boot or shoe). Your footwear is breathable and meets the GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY™ promise, ensuring that your feet are always comfortable and dry no matter where you go. This means you can get the best out of your day – whether it be with small steps or giant leaps.
Air Revolutions
The tongue adjacent to the foot is made of 3D mesh as well as a permanently cushioning, reticulated, and perforated foam. The Air Revolution tongue extends past the top of the boot, allowing for better air circulation. It is simply fixed at specific points on the front of the foot and instep to aid in air circulation.
Comfort Fit
The Comfort fit has extra space at the front of the foot, no tapering, and a solid heel grip. The increased width provides greater space for your toes, particularly across the flex point of the boot or shoe.Because it provides more surface area to stand on, the cork footbed in the Comfort Fit boots is wider and more supportive than a normal footbed. It has a Poron shock absorber that dampens the impact of each footstep. Even more, comfort is provided with a fleece covering and an incorporated cushioning pad for the metatarsal heads.
The more defined contour of the Comfort fit range soles allows your stride to roll more easily.
Meindl Identity
Customers of the Identity models are offered detailed proof of origin on the leather upper used – which doesn‘t just come from anywhere. Meindl Identity uses only raw materials sourced from specific regions, for which they have all the documentation to prove the authenticity of each piece of material source. Meindl Identity requires a significant amount of effort to implement. Every hide must be documented and labelled. Over 200 individual steps are required in the production process alone before the completed boot is ready.
MFS Vakuum
The idea behind the MFS Vakuum® styles is to combine a stable outer boot providing security with a particularly soft and adaptable inner boot. The special foam is used throughout the boot, allowing it to completely fit the entire foot.
The heel is lined with Gore-Tex Stretch, which eliminates any seams that could cause blisters. The footbeds are made of memory foam, which moulds to the shape of the feet and provides excellent protection and support.
The footbed conforms to the foot while still providing excellent support.
Ergonomic Fit Technology
The upper edge is elastic and soft. They accomplish this by utilising stretch fabrics.
The enclosed tongue-and-cuff system protects the foot from moisture and dirt entry. In conjunction with the lacing, this creates a flawless ensemble with a comfortable feel.
Alpine Sole Concept
The heel spoiler is angled to create a surface for holding crampons without any protrusions, making it possible to tread down and roll off in an economical and natural way.
Heel Cuff Freeflex
There is an integrated stretch zone in the heel area of the cuff. This makes the entire cuff more elastic. It fits closely but with absolutely no pressure.
Memory Foam System
The Memory Foam System (MFS) is a concept that is designed to provide your feet with the optimal, systematic fit while also giving the additional support your feet and ankles require regardless of the terrain. The main concept is to combine a stable outer boot (Leather) with their revolutionary MFS foam padding, resulting in an adaptable inner boot all the way around. The foam runs the length of the boot, from the cuff to the tongue, around the ankle, and all the way to the ball of your foot.
Variofix System
Variofix provides a flawless, snug fit in the heel with no painful pinching or pressure. The incorporated heel harness encircles the heel and secures it to the footbed. The free-running "speed wire" strap is drawn in snugly and evenly around the heel when you tighten the laces. This gives your heel the most secure, comfortable grasp, ensuring greater, no-slip support.
